Wayne Baker grew up in Russell County, Alabama. He graduated from Oliver High School as class Valedictorian. He completed his B. S. studies in Accounting and Economics at Grambling State University in Louisiana. He completed his Master’s at Moody Graduate School in Chicago, Illinois. He continued his study at Columbia Biblical Seminary in Columbia, South Carolina. He is married to Rita Baker. They have three children, Zephaniah, Christian and Jonathan and three grandchildren; Caleb, Micah and Kirsten. He is an experienced expositor of the Scriptures and a habitual reader Pastor Baker has served in many capacities to bring cohesiveness within the Columbus, Fort Benning, and Phenix City communities. He pioneered Christian education programs throughout the community.Pastor Baker founded and established the first African American Independent Methodist Church in Columbus, Georgia. He is the Pastor and President of Spirit Filled Methodist Church Inc. The church has grown from two members to over 850 active members. He is also the President and Chairman of Spirit Filled Development Corporation and Spirit Filled Academy Inc. He is the past president of In-Fi World Corporation and past president of End Times Gospel Crusades Inc. He is also the past Secretary of the Muscogee County Clergy Association. Pastor Baker also served as the past president of the Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance where his goal was to work with all ministers throughout the city on common interest that served the entire community. Through his leadership, IMA was completely organized. During the Hurricane Katrina disaster, Pastor Baker led the effort to raise over $100,000 dollars that was given to Katrina victims. He worked with the Russell County NAACP where he served as president during the period of 1972-1976. As minister and pastor in the A.M. E. East Alabama Conference, he served as conference secretary of 85 churches from 1976-1984. Pastor Baker is a past recipient of the WOKS Man of the Year Award. He was appointed Honorary Attorney General of the state of Alabama by Bill Baxely.His leadership and training has resulted in ministries throughout the community and throughout America. Seeds planted through his leadership developed into ministers who now serve in capacities such as Chaplains in the United States Army; founders of Teen University Centers; Church founders; Christian Centers; and others. He is currently counselor and mentor for many men and women in ministry throughout the city.Pastor Baker has traveled extensively on his mission to spread the gospel. He conducted crusades in Germany and South Korea. In 1982, he conducted a crusade in Aschafengsburg, Germany. In 1990, he was chosen as the keynote speaker at Butchesgaden, Germany for the Gospel Hour Retreat. In 1986, he conducted a week long seminar for the Gospel Hour ministry in Tae gu, Korea.Currently, Pastor Baker hosts “The Pastor’s Corner” on Sundays at 8am on WRBL Channel 3.
